The Inherited Map Diagnostic
A Field Guide to Recognising Ontic Drift.
A short field document for recognising where inherited maps no longer correspond to lived experience.
Not every form of disorientation is personal.
The Inherited Map Diagnostic is a public orientation document from Querying Qualia. It is designed to help you recognise where a structure of interpretation may have lost contact with the reality it claims to describe.
Its purpose is not to provide a new belief system, diagnosis, or method of self-improvement. Its purpose is to support the first movement of the inquiry: awareness before correction.
Where the map may no longer be telling the truth.
Language no longer lands.
The words still function, but they no longer seem to make contact with lived reality.
Competence becomes estrangement.
You remain capable inside a system while becoming increasingly distant from what that capability serves.
Metrics replace meaning.
The measurable begins to displace the meaningful, and the map starts correcting the terrain.
Explanation becomes enclosure.
The account no longer opens reality. It confines what reality is allowed to be.

The diagnostic is only the threshold.
The Field Orientation helps identify where inherited maps may no longer correspond to the terrain. Volume I: Awareness begins the deeper work of seeing the terrain itself.
